Sponsored the National Day Concert 2016 by The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra
The Bank has been supporting the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra’s* National Day Concert since 2009, to contribute to the development of art and culture. It was the 8th consecutive year for the Bank to sponsor the event in 2016. For the performance sponsored by the Bank on 17th September 2016, it honours the 150th birthday of one of the legendary father of modern China, Mr. Sun Yat Sen. The Concert began with the Sun Yat Sen Symphonic Suite. Conductor Zhang Guoyong has directed a full symphony orchestra, along with well-known soloists and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Chorus. The Yellow River Cantata, composed by Xian Xinghai setting in the poetry of Guang Weiran has been performed as a wrap up.
*The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra is the first founded professional Western music orchestra in Hong Kong, established in 1895, under the name Sino-British Orchestra, renamed as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 1957, and became a professional orchestra in 1974.
