Set up “Wing Lung Bank Student Exchange Scholarship” in The Hong Kong Institute of Education

To offer Hong Kong students more diversified learning opportunities, the Bank set up the “Wing Lung Bank Student Exchange Scholarship” in The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd)*, sponsoring local students with outstanding academic results to participate in exchange programs in Mainland China. On 14th May, Mr. ZHU Qi, Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, presented the cheque of HK$500,000 to Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of HKIEd as the seed capital of the Scholarship.

With interests gain from the seed capital, the “Wing Lung Bank Student Exchange Scholarship” is presented to eligible local students starting from 2014/15. Corresponding exchange programs are expected to be organized from 2015/16 onwards.

*HKIEd is the largest teacher education provider in Hong Kong. Today, about 80% of Hong Kong’s kindergarten and primary school teachers, as well as 30% of secondary school teachers are trained by HKIEd or its predecessor colleges of education.
