Supported the Earth Hour for the 17th Consecutive Year
As the worldwide largest environmental movement, Earth Hour 2024* was held on 23rd March (Saturday) at 8:30pm local time. The Bank had been supporting this initiative the 17th consecutive year. With the theme of “Give an Hour for Earth” this year, WWF encourages everyone to start simply in our daily lives – changing the way we look at food, fitness and wellness, outdoor activities, creativity, entertainment, and sustainability, so we can reconnect with nature and help our planet.
The Bank had turned off the outdoor billboard spotlights and lightbox signage at CMB Wing Lung Bank Building in Central, CMB Wing Lung Bank Centre in Mong Kok and Western Harbor Tunnel. In addition, to demonstrate our support and care to the Earth, the Bank had invited tenants at CMB Wing Lung Bank Centre to turn off unnecessary lights and electrical appliances in their office for one hour. The office building of CMB Wing Lung Bank Shenzhen Branch also jointly participated in the event by turning off the outdoor spotlights of the building and unnecessary lights in the office for one hour!
*Earth Hour is a global event for energy conservation. It advocates families and corporations to turn off unnecessary lights and electrical appliances for 1 hour at 8:30p.m. on the last Saturday in March every year.
