What are the features of the "CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card"?

With the application of Chip-based technology, the security feature of our new "CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card" is further enhanced so as to provide customers with more secured and reliable ATM services.

Do all the existing CMB Wing Lung magnetic stripe ATM cards have to be replaced?

Yes. CMB Wing Lung Bank will mail the new chip-based ATM cards to our customers to replace the current CMB Wing Lung Bank magnetic stripe ATM cards by batch with the following order:

  • CMBWLB HKD ATM Card;
  • CMBWLB RMB ATM Card;
  • Sunflower ATM Card; and
  • PWM ATM Card

When will I receive my new "CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card"?

The new “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card” will be mailed to customers to replace the current magnetic stripe ATM cards by batch. The whole process is expected to be completed on or before 31 March 2014. Please be patient while waiting for the new “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card”. Can the new "CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card" be used at the existing ATMs? Can I make purchases with the new ATM Card at merchant outlets?

Yes. The existing ATMs (including those ATMs which have not adopted the “chip-based technology”) could fully support the “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card”. Besides, you can make purchases with the “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card” at merchant outlets marked with  logo or  logo.

Will there be any charge or card annual fee for the card replacement with the new "CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card"?

No. It will be free of charge for the card replacement with new “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card” to the current cardholders of CMB Wing Lung magnetic stripe ATM card.

Can I continue to use the current CMB Wing Lung magnetic stripe ATM Card after activating the new "CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card"?

Once the new “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card” is activated or 45 days after a new “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card” is issued (whichever is earlier), your current CMB Wing Lung magnetic stripe ATM Card will become invalid. Customer have to activate the new “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card” within 4 months upon receive the card. Otherwise, customers have to re-apply the card.

An SMS message will be sent to customer’s mobile for alert once customer activated the new "CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card".

How should I handle the current CMB Wing Lung magnetic stripe ATM Card?

To protect your privacy and for security reason, please destroy the current CMB Wing Lung magnetic stripe ATM card into two halves once the new ATM card is activated.

Do I need to use new PIN with the new CMB Wing Lung ATM Chip-based card?

No, you can use your current CMB Wing Lung magnetic stripe ATM card PIN to activate your new "CMB Wing Lung ATM Chip-based card".

Do I need to register for PPS Service with the “CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card” again if I have already registered PPS Service with the current magnetic stripe ATM card?

If you have already registered for PPS Service with your magnetic stripe ATM card, the registration will remain unchanged. The new ATM card is ready for use upon receipt.

I have already submitted a request to add or remove a secondary account(s) / change the ATM display language at your branch. Why can't I see such change(s) on the ATM screen?

After you have made such request at our branches, you can automatically update the change(s) of the account or ATM ​display language with your new "CMB Wing Lung Chip-based ATM Card" via our CMB Wing Lung ATMs with the adoption of chip-based technology on the next working day. Such process is the same as existing practice.

How do I identify an ATM which has adopted the chip-based ATM technology?

ATMs showing the icon of ​ display, have already adopted the chip-based ATM technology.
